Tuesday, 17 November 2009 13:33

NHL CS

NHL Central scouting has released their Top 25 lists from the various leagues. The OHL, WHL, QMJHL, USHL and Europe are listed. We have also included the Pre Season watch lists.

The OHL list has Tyler Seguin ranked ahead of Taylor Hall. We released our Top 5 NHL list last week and also had Seguin ahead of Hall.

NHL CS do not impress me at all. Every year I shake my head when I see some parts of their rankings.

You are not the 1st person we have heard that from. It's early, their next release is much more complete.

No Joey Hishon????? Come on, that's ridiculous. The guy should be in the top 5!

So Mark Visentin is the best OHL goalie this year? That's not who I would have guessed.

Seguin is pretty special. I can see him number one. I thought Owen Sound's guys kinda got the shaft. No Hishon and then Shipley at 19th. He's a lot better than many of the guys in front of him.

No sign of the kid Trevor Parkes you have on your site on the QMJHL list. Wonder why not?

Almost a point a game and is a + player and has size. What's not to like? .

NHL Central Scouting's first list is always lame. They get tons of guys wrong, either too high, too low or not on the list. You can't tell me that Joey Hishon isn't one of the top 10 OHL prospects for this draft.

For them to not have him anywhere completely destroys the credibility of the list in my opinion. It tells you they need more scouts if they can't tell he's a talent!

NHL Central Scouting also didn't like Ryan O'Reilly, but that hasn't stopped him from making the NHL as an 18 year old.

Wayne Simmonds was not even ranked whatsoever, becomes a 2nd round pick of L.A. and then goes right to the NHL and belongs.

So their track record is pretty spotty.

I'm not a goaltending expert by any means, but I really don't see Mark Visentin as a goalie I'd draft into the NHL.

No offence to the kid, but I just don't think he's that potential level. There are far better guys to choose from than him.

I like Joey Hishon. I'm shocked he doesn't warrant top 25.

Agreed on the Hishon thing. He's a high level talent and okay he's been hurt, but they had two whole years to watch him. No offence to Justin Shugg. He's a good player, but he's 11th and Hishon is nowhere? That makes no sense at all. I would draft Hishon before Shugg.
