NHL Draft: Portland Winterhawks vs Everett Silvertips Jan 29th, 2013

Jan 29th, 2013, Portland Winterhawks vs Everett Silvertips (WHL Regular Season)

EVT #15 C Bauml Kohl (2013) Kohl played on and off tonight. He played a decent defensive game, blocking shots and chipping pucks but not enough to stop the Hawks speedy forwards. The lack of size and strength is his biggest weakness along the boards battling for loose pucks.

EVT #16 C Stadnyk Carson (2013) I like his game, but looked lost tonight. Struggled to do much of anything. Had a couple rushes but tried to skate up the middle and split the D just to turn over the puck. He struggled to get the puck out of his own zone and looked like he had on his blinders tonight.

EVT #25 D Mueller Mirco (2013) Mirco play was consitent tonight, pushing Portlands top snipers to the outside. Played strong along the boards, made good first passes out of the zone but seemed to struggle clearing the slot and boxing playesr out insde the paint tonight. He rushed the puck a couple shifts and was joining the offensive rush , his offensive talents are starting to show more each game.

PORT #3 LD Jones Seth (2013)- Jones played solid through out the whole game, he joined the rush looking to help the offensive threat almost every shift. The big swift blueliner used his stick well and showed good defensive presences. He was calm and cool with the puck hitting tape to tape stretch ice passes. He QB the power play and dazzled with his vision adding 2 PP assists. Jones seems to shy away from the body contact, i noticed when pressured hard on the forecheck he tends to panic with the puck.

PORT #27 RW Bjorkstrand Oliver (2013)- Oliver was a work horse tonight, good crash and bang style of play. Won the race for looses puck and was just dominate over Everetts defense. Kid has ton of raw skill.

PORT #19 C Petan Nicolas (2013)- Petan was the best player on the ice. This little mighty mouse was slick and unoticed, slipping into the scoring areas untouched. Petans hands are greasy in tight and dangled the D with ease. He showed his offensive creativity adding 1 goals and 2 assists. Petan needs to add some size to his smaller frame.

Scouts Notes. Portlands Hanson and Vorobev played decent defensive games tonight, Ty Rattie (St.Louis) dazzled notching 2 goals. Portland dominated from the drop off the puck. Everett was unable to keep up with Portland speed and puck movement.
