Both teams are undefeated at home during the post-season – Halifax is 6-0, Baie-Comeau is 7-0 – and neither team has lost when leading after the 1st period. The Mooseheads own the #1 power play & #1 penalty kill in the playoffs and they’ve scored 5 short-handed goals in 12 games. The Drakkar have balanced scoring, with 8 players in double-digits heading into the final. Players To Watch Jonathan Drouin – Left Wing, Halifax (12GP – 10G, 19A) NHL Draft: Eligible in 2013 Drouin leads the Mooseheads in points and has scored in all but one game during the post-season. He’s scored a goal in 5 straight games and leads the league in short-handed goals (2). Nathan MacKinnon – Centre, Halifax (12GP – 9G, 19A) NHL Draft: Eligible in 2013 MacKinnon heads into the final on a 10-game point streak. Five of his 12 goals were scored on the power play. He is winning 61% of his faceoffs in the playoffs (178/291). Martin Frk – Right Wing, Halifax (12GP – 11G, 13A) NHL Draft: Detroit Red Wings, 2nd Rd, 2012 Frk is one of four Halifax players with at least 23 points in the post-season. He’s recorded three games of 2 or more goals, including a 5-goal game in the playoff opener. He scored the overtime goal in game 3 of the series vs. Rouyn-Noranda. Stefan Fournier – Right Wing (12GP – 13G, 10A) NHL Draft: Free Agent Fournier leads the QMJHL in playoff goals and they’ve come in all situations. He has 5 power play goals, 2 game-winners & 1 short-handed marker. Zach Fucale – Goaltender, Halifax (12-0, 2.02 GAA, .903 SV%) NHL Draft: Eligible in 2013 Fucale has yet to lose in the playoffs and is on a 16-game win streak. He sits 2nd in the league in goals against average. He’s faced only 21.6 shots per game heading into the final and he should expect to see more action considering that Baie-Comeau is among the league leaders in shots (36.3/game). Petr Straka – Right Wing, Baie-Comeau (14GP – 9G, 21A) NHL Draft: Columbus Blue Jackets, 2nd Rd, 2010 Straka leads the Drakkar in goals & points during the playoffs. After a quick offensive start, the Blue Jackets prospect has slowed down of late, but he’s still been responsible on the defensive end. Jeremy Gregoire – Centre, Baie-Comeau (13GP – 9G, 6A) NHL Draft: Eligible in 2013 Gregoire is tied with Straka for the team lead in goals. The 2013 eligible prospect is looking to improve his rating for this year’s draft and there’s no better place to showcase one’s talents than in a league final against the country’s #1-ranked team. Valentin Zykov – Right Wing, Baie-Comeau (14GP – 7G, 8A) NHL Draft: San Jose Sharks, 2nd Rd, 2012 Zykov led all QMJHL rookies in goals (40) and points (75) in the regular season and he continues to do the same in the post-season. The Russian forward has two game-winning goals and both of them came in against Blainville-Boisbriand in the 3rd round. The second one was in overtime in game 5. Philippe Cadorette -Goaltender, Baie-Comeau (11-2, 1.69 GAA, .933 SV%) NHL Draft: Eligible in 2013 Cadorette leads the league in goals against average & save percentage during the playoffs. He recorded a shutout in the series-clinching win against Blainville-Boisbriand.
