Merritt Centennials at Penticton Vees, Oct 30, 2015

Oct. 30, 2015 – Merritt Centennials at Penticton Vees (BCHL Regular Season)

MER #35 G Lancaster, Colten (2016) – Merritt backup impressed with a strong performance against a standout Junior A club. Didn’t look intimidated, as he did a good job of tracking and challenging shots. Had really good rebound control, as he deflected pucks to the less dangerous areas of the ice.

PEN #2 D Jones, Sam (2016) – Played a simple but effective shutdown game. Doesn’t have a very active stick but played with some edge and did a really good job of keeping chances to outside the prime scoring area. Showed some dirtiness in his own end near his goal crease, but still remained within the lines of good discipline. Footwork is only slightly above average.

PEN #17 LC Jost, Tyson (2016) –  Looks equally dangerous as an F1 forechecker or as a trailer. In the absence of Bast, Mendell (U-17s) and Fabbro (injury), Jost saw some time manning the point on the powerplay. Made some great defensive plays in transition tonight, too.

PEN #19 LC Brar, Benjamin (2017) – A decent skater but too easily blows tires at this point. Appears to be still filling in and finding proper coordination with a growing frame. Played on the perimeter a lot tonight. Not utilizing his size to his full advantage yet.

PEN #23 LC Sillinger, Owen (2017) – Exhibits elusive footwork and is a great stickhandler. Made some outstanding moves with the puck on his stick, including some deking moves to get around two opposition checkers at once near his own blueline. Not afraid to take the puck down the middle and to absorb some punishment. Might be overtly ambitious on some of his net drives, but made some impressive rushes nonetheless.
