Eastern Ontario Vs. NOHA All-Stars

Game 1:

NOHA All-Stars:

Caruso- Caruso plays with a really good hustle and he was competing well for pucks. He doesn’t give up easy on plays, making the second effort all the time and has really nice agility to get away from the opposition. He used his hands really well in this game to beat defenders in order to draw penalties, and got in behind the defense to take a long pass for a break opportunity on net. He opened up well on the power play next to the net and was finding lanes to move the puck back to the slot for some good chances.

[sociallocker] Eastern Ontario Wild:

Salloum- Salloum is a smooth skating defenseman who is calm with the puck and was distributing it really well. He was moving the puck around very nicely on the power play to create space and can make a great long pass to find a teammate at the far blue line. He was battling to win the puck in board battles then was moving it up quickly to start the rush.

Murray- Murray was making a good 1st pass up out of the zone and was getting his stick in lanes defensively to deflect shots out of danger. He made an excellent cross-ice feed on the power play for a great chance beside the net and can skate the puck up end-to-end nicely to get in towards the net for a good chance in tight. He was playing nice and physical on the defender in his own end along the boards, but at times was getting caught standing still which made it easy for the forward to make the play around him.

2-0 NOHA All-Stars

Ottawa Jr. Senators Vs. York Simcoe Express Game 2:

Ottawa Jr. Senators:

Zullo- Zullo did a great job driving to the net with his stick down to tap in the puck and score. He drove hard to the slot to take a pass and put a good shot on from in tight and also was getting to the net to have that net-front presence on the power play. He moved the puck around pretty well in the offensive zone but at times he panicked along the boards and just threw the puck up the ice.

Johnston- Johnston got in lanes in the defensive zone on the penalty kill to breakup plays and then clear the puck out of the zone. He went to the net with his stick down looking for opportunities and drove the puck wide while protecting it then made a really nice centering pass to the man in front of the net off the rush. He has to get stronger on the puck so that he is not losing it so easily in board battles.

York Simcoe Express:

Harding- Harding was going to the slot and opening up well to provide his teammates with scoring options. He protects the puck along the wall and can get to the slot with the puck to put excellent shots on net from scoring position. He has some hands to gain the offensive zone off the rush, and moves the puck down low then drives hard towards the net.

Boston- Boston has great hands that he displayed on the rush up the ice to beat defenders then get to the slot for shots. He used his hands to create space in the slot to get his shot off, and was distributing the puck well on the odd-man rush. He has good speed and he moves the puck well in the offensive zone.

Knott- Knott got a great cycle going in deep and was driving hard to the net with his stick down to take a pass and score from in tight. He put great pressure on the puck carrier to force turnovers and moved the puck across to the far side of the net to a teammate on the rush for a fantastic opportunity. He was physical along the boards and followed up the play to pick up a rebound in the slot to score on a good shot.

4-1 York Simcoe Express

Central Ontario Vs. Huron Perth Game 3:

Central Ontario Wolves:

Sheedy- Sheedy did an excellent job of finding a lane on the power play to move the puck across for a good chance. He was jumping down low to join the attack, protecting the puck nicely and used his stick effectively to knock the puck away from the opposition.

Allen- Allen did a great job on the rush driving the puck wide while protecting it then cutting in towards the net to create a good chance in tight. He displayed some good physicality and was knocking the puck loose from the opposition with his stick, but has to have more battle in the corners for the puck.

Huron-Perth Lakers:

T. Nichol- Nichol has dynamic speed that he used in this game to rush the puck up through the neutral zone effectively. He opened up really well on the rush to take a pass and put a good one-timer on net and was cutting towards the net off the wide drive to create chances in tight. He also came back for good support in this game, getting in lanes and putting pressure on the puck carrier to force turnovers.

Huether- Huether started the game out by picking up a rebound in front of the net and scoring on a beautiful shot from in tight, displaying his great hands around the net. He got to the slot with the puck for good chances and was taking low shots off the rush to try and generate rebounds. He also was able to take a pass on an odd-man rush to score on a good shot.

Huber- Huber has fantastic speed on the rush to get in towards the net for good shots from scoring position. He was able to take a pass at full speed, then use his hands to make moves and get around defenders. He was willing to go hard at the net to get right in the goaltender’s face and put low shots on net off the rush to try and generate rebounds. He made a great pass across to find an open man next to the net for a tap-in goal and was getting to the slot and opening up to put good shots on. He also got open down low on the power play to put a one-timer on and score.

5-4 Huron Perth Lakers

Elgin-Middlesex Vs. Whitby Game 4:

Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs:

Mayo- Mayo has a good hard shot that he was able to put on net kept down low. He holds the offensive line pretty well and come down into the high slot to provide scoring options. He also got down showing a willingness to block shots and get in passing lanes in the defensive zone and was engaging physically along the boards.

Whitby Wildcats:

McCool- McCool has great speed and hustle for loose pucks and comes back to the defensive zone to lay out some big hits on the puck carrier. He has many tools that could make him a really dangerous player, but often seemed unwilling to drive the puck to the net and was consistently taking long outside shots off the rush, or just throwing the puck on net from anywhere.

Yetman- Yetman has great speed, hustles for pucks, is strong on his feet and protects the puck effectively. He has a big frane, was willing to use it in order to have a net-front presence on the power play and was able to take a pass in the slot to score into the open cage.

Laishram- Laishram did an excellent job of getting in lanes to block shots on the penalty kill. He was battling really well for the puck to force turnovers in the offensive zone and was nice and physical on the fore-check. He has fantastic speed, is strong on the puck but was taking outside shots repeatedly, including on a 5-on-3 where he took a shot from outside the slot off the rush and missed the net completely.

3-2 Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs

Toronto Marlboros Vs. Elite Game 5:

Toronto Marlboros:

Stephens- Stephens made a really nice cross-ice feed to find an open man in the offensive zone down low in front of the net. He was competing well for pucks and drove hard to the net to take a pass for a break opportunity but missed the net on his move. He used his speed and acceleration on the rush to get by defenders, the agility and puck protection to get around them then moved the puck down low to a man in tight for a goal. On the rush he had great speed but then cut up high instead of driving the puck to the net.

Robinson- Robinson got to the slot to put good shots on net, was physical and battling for pucks on the fore-check but was trying to be too fancy at times and turned the puck over, including one instance where he tried to dangle his way through 3 players for the opposition.

Strome- Strome started this game out really well, showing some exceptional vision to move the puck to the front of the net for an open man when pressure is on him. He then made another incredible pass through traffic to get the puck right on his teammate’s stick in the slot off the rush for a great chance. He protects the puck very well to open up a seam to move the puck to a man down low, and cut to the net to draw a penalty off the rush. He has to watch some of the neutral zone turnovers trying high-risk passes.

Elite Hockey:

Peterson- Peterson has good size, speed, hands and compete for the puck. He was taking passes really well through the neutral zone off the rush and forced turnovers by applying pressure on the puck carrier on the point. He had a good net-front presence on the power play, battling for loose pucks in front and took a pass down low next to the net on the power play for a good chance from in tight.

Ott- Ott has fantastic hands that he showed to get by a defender clean on a great move and in on net for a break opportunity. He has good size and a net-front presence on the power play and opened up to tip a puck towards the net in tight for a really good chance. He battled hard in front of the net, but was taking outside shots at times that were not getting through to the net.

4-1 Toronto Marlboros

Ottawa Jr Sens Vs. Mississauga Rebels Game 6:

Ottawa Jr. Senators:

Johnston- Johnston did a great job driving the puck wide then centering it for a man in front of the net for a chance from in tight. He had a great end-to-end rush with hands and speed and was finding lanes to move the puck back to the point in the offensive zone. He used his fantastic hands and agility to get around the defender and move the puck down low for a teammate to score.

Tam- Tam has a nice shot from the point and used it to score on the power play. He was playing really hard and physical on the puck carrier along the boards and keeping his man to the outside, but can’t cross the line and take unnecessary penalties. He also turned the puck over in his own end right in the slot and the opposition took advantage and scored.

Senyshyn- Senyshyn has great hands and moves through the neutral zone to gain the offensive zone with speed and get around defenders. He was opening up well in the slot to provide scoring options and showed great speed on the wing trying to cut to the net, but has to get bigger and stronger to do this more effectively. He also has a hard shot from the point, but needs to hit the net on his chances.

Mylairi- Mylairi is a good skating defenseman who was getting the puck in deep off the rush and has a nice hard shot from the point on the power play, but needs to hit the net on his opportunities. He did a nice job taking the body on his man and keeping him to the outside, and was playing his man very hard physical and rough along the boards.

Baird- Baird did a great job of getting in lanes to block shots on the penalty kill and got his stick in lanes to deflect passes out of danger. He tries to be too fancy at times in his own end with the puck, turning it over and had one really bad turnover right beside the net in his own zone that the opposition took and scored on.

Mississauga Rebels:

Zeppeiri- Zeppeiri battles so well for the puck and protects it extremely effectively along the boards. He came back to his own end to get a stick in lanes to deflect shots out of play and is very strong on his feet. He opened up well to take a pass and put a good shot on net that rang off the post, but was taking long shots on net off the rush.

Duggan- Duggan holds the offensive line pretty well and can move the puck around effectively. He used his stick to knock the puck away from the opposition in the defensvei zone, but has to watch some of the turnovers up along the boards in his own end.

Clapham- Clapham has a really nice hard shot that he kept down low on net from the point to create an excellent chance on the rebound. He has to watch some of the turnovers up along the boards and at times was shooting at shin pads in the offensive zone.

4-3 Mississauga Rebels

Toronto Red Wings Vs. Elgin-Middlesex Game 7:

Toronto Red Wings:

Saban- Saban protects the puck very well to shield the puck from the opposition and showed great agility to dodge a big hit coming in from konecny. He laid out a really big open ice hit to knock his man over and went down to block shots in his own end. He has a good shot from the point that generated a great rebound that the team scored on and has hands to get around the opposition in towards the net.

Elgin Middlesex Chiefs:

Crouse- Crouse took the puck off the sidewall to walk into the slot and put a great shot on. He demonstrated a great power forward move to cut to the net and draw a penalty and was really physical along the boards in his own zone. He also showed excellent speed to rush the puck up ice end-to-end.

Konecny- Konecny was moving the puck really well, as he made a great pass through the neutral zone to spring a man into the offensive zone for a break. He has dynamic agility to get around defenders, but tries to do way too much on his own at times resulting in turnovers. He put a nice shot on net off the rush that rang off the post, put a low shot on net to generate a rebound that the team scored on and also picked up the puck in the neutral zone with speed to chip the puck by the defense which resulted in a goal.

Coyle- Coyle demonstrated fantastic hands to walk around a defender in tight to score a nice goal. He protected the puck really well along the boards in the offensive zone and was physical on the forecheck too.

6-1 Elgin Middlesex Chiefs

NOHA Vs. Barrie Game 8:

NOHA All-Stars:

Speers- Speers continuously showed his fantastic hands to weave in and out of defenders and get in to the net. He has dynamic speed, hands agility and played at a great tempo all game. He has a shiftiness with the puck and can make some good passes, including an excellent cross-crease pass to find a man crashing the net for a goal. He made an incredible toe-drag move to get to the net for a great chance in night and was making something happen almost every time he was out on the ice.

Hendricks- Hendricks uses his body nicely to get good positioning and keep the opposition to the outside. He has a great battle and compete for the puck behind his own net and hands and creativity to create room for himself in his own end. He was also patient with the puck to wait for an opening to move the puck up the ice.

Barrie Colts:

Falconer- Falconer had a game to remember with 4 goals and an assist in this one. He started out with really nice hands to take a pass and come in to score on a great shot. He then opened up in the slot to take a pass and score on a great shot, then did it again on an almost identical play. He picked up the puck in the neutral zone to come down the wing and put an excellent shot on net to score his 4th goal of the game off the rush.

Gerhart- Gerhart was finding lanes to move the puck back to the point on the power play and made a really nice pass to spring a man into the offensive zone for a break and a goal. He also scored on a pretty bad outside shot from the side-wall.

MacArthur- MacArthur made a really nice pass to find an open man down low in the slot for a one-timer goal and was patient to find lanes to move the puck to an open man in the slot again for another goal.

7-2 Barrie Colts

Eastern Ontario Vs. Toronto Marlboros Game 9:

Eastern Ontario Wild:

Frechette- Frechette was moving the puck down low to start the cycle well in the offensive zone. He distributed the puck pretty well on the power play, had a nice net-front presence and took a pass in beside the net to put it back out front on the power play and somehow the puck found the back of the net. He was also back-checking to steal the puck off the opposition in the neutral zone.

Hamre- Hamre started the game out by making an excellent long pass to find a man at the far blue line to spring him for a break. He put good pressure on the forecheck to force turnovers in deep and made an excellent move after taking a drop-pass to walk into the slot for a good shot. He made a nice pass to find a man in the high slot for a good opportunity and was coming in with nice speed on the wing to put shots on net off the rush.

Toronto Marlboros:

Stephens- Stephens had great speed through the neutral zone to blow by the opposition’s defense and take a pass to come in on a break and score on a great move. He took the puck into the slot to get a great shot on that he ripped off the post.

DeFarias- DeFarias was jumping in on the rush to lead the attack down low and get the cycle started. He got a nice shot through to the net that he kept down low for a rebound and a good opportunity, and defensively was playing the body to keep his man to the outside.
