Prospects Breakdown:

BUF # 18, LW, Giacebello, Jacob (2013) Giacebello did a great job opening up in the high slot to take a pass and put a shot on, but has to hit the net from those good scoring areas. He was able to pressure the point to force turnovers and rush the puck back up the ice as well. He has some really nice hands and moves to create some space to gain…

BUF # 3, D, Dockery, Dominic (2013) Dockery has some nice agility to his game to avoid pressure from the opposition and some good passing to start the rush up the ice. He showed some pretty good physicality in his own end, and really kept his man to the outside well. He stepped in from the slot to take a pass down low for a really perfect nice hard shot to score the team’s 1st goal of the game, and was able to pick off a bunch of neutral zone turnovers as well in this one.

BUF # 14, C, Perna, Dominic (2013) Perna is a smaller forward, but has some really nice speed and agility and can pass the puck effectively in the offensive zone on the power play. He showed some good battle for the puck along the boards, and cycles it well in the offensive zone. He can protect the puck well and opens up to take passes in the high slot. He showed some good support coming back in his own end and was picking off neutral zone turnovers. He has great vision to see a passing lane and find an open man to move the puck to scoring position, and a nice net-front presence to screen the goalie for the team’s 2nd goal of the game. He has some nice hands that he can work under pressure and was able to pick up the puck in the slot to score the team’s 3rd goal of the game. He made a really big hit to finish his man and knock him over along the boards and had an excellent long pass to spring a man at the far blue line as well.

BUF # 5, D, Burns, Ryan (2013) Burns is really calm with the puck, and made some good passes to move it up on the rush. He was going down to get his stick in the way to knock the puck off the opposition and breakup their chances on the rush. He was able to step up on a pinch to hold the line and keep the attack alive, and showed some good physicality along the boards in his own end. He did a nice job finishing his checks and keeping the opposition to the outside, but needs to watch some of the turnovers along the boards in his own end.

BRM # 10, C, Smith, Jason (2013) Smith was able to pick up the puck in the slot to put a good shot on from scoring position, but has to get his shots through to the net. He has some really nice agility to twist away from the pressure of the opposition, and displayed some excellent hands as well. He has great vision to find lanes in the offensive zone to pass the puck, and nice hands to turn his man inside out, then move the puck back to the point for the team to score the 2nd goal of the game. He had a nice back-check to provide support in his own end and tie-up his man, and some really good pressure and aggression on the puck carrier. He finished his checks along the boards, and did a great job reading the play to pick off turnovers. He had a nice stick lift in his own end to take the puck and rush it back up the ice with some great speed and quickness to his game. He needs to get bigger and stronger so that he is not knocked off the puck so easily and has to watch the puck mishandles that result in turnovers as well.

BRM # 94, RW, Mariano, Stevie (2013) Mariano has some great hands to drive to the net with the puck, and showed some good puck protection deep in the offensive zone along the boards. He displayed great hands to walk into the slot, but needs to move the puck a bit quicker when he’s under pressure. He uses his stick well to check the puck away from the opposition and move it forward, and was reading the play well to pick off turnovers in the neutral zone. He can get to the slot with the puck but needs to use his teammates more as he is constantly surrounded by the opposition by the time he gets there. He has a decent cycle but needs to move it at a quicker pace, and was able to get open in the slot to take a pass and score the team’s 3rd goal of the game. He had a good race to the puck to score the empty netter at the end of the game, but he also needs to be able to get the puck out of the zone on clearing attempts on the penalty kill.

BRM # 18, LW, Jeffers, Jack (2013) Jeffers displayed some really good speed and hands off the rush, and was driving the puck to the net for good chances from in tight. He did a good job protecting the puck in deep on the cycle and was finishing his hits on the fore-check. He showed a really great back-check with some nice speed to tie-up his man. He was able to get to the slot with the puck to put shots on, and was battling hard to get to the net for rebounds and loose pucks. He put some really good pressure on the fore-check with speed, and protected the puck while driving the puck down low to move it to a man in the slot to score the team’s 3rd goal of the game. He was also able to read the play and pick off turnovers in the offensive zone to keep the attack alive and hold the puck in the zone.

BRM # 19, C, Zivojevic, Adel (2013) Zivojevic displayed some really good speed off the rush, and some nice hands and great pressure put on the puck carrier to force turnovers. He was able to get the puck right in front of the net to score the game’s opening goal late in the first period as well. He did a good job of getting to the net looking for loose pucks and rebounds, and just needs to watch the turnovers trying to move the puck up along the boards in his own end.
