Sam Bennett – Toronto Marlboros

Sam Bennett – F – 6’0” – 165lb. – Toronto Marlboros

Sam Bennett really started the year in the shadows of arguably the best minor midget team in North America. He quietly developed his skills, and showed us a

little more each time we watched him. The GTHL Playoffs really seemed to be where he made himself most noticeable, and really stood out showing that he is a top prospect for this year’s OHL Priority Selection Draft. Sam has a great first few steps in his skating stride and can explode past opposing players. He has great hands and a quick release on his shot, which has a lot of power behind it. He has quick hands and can elude multiple defenders at once. He forechecks hard and forces turnovers in the offensive zone, to keep the pressure on the opposition. While Bennett has all the abilities to score some nice goals, he has also shown great creativity and quickness in setting up goals for teammates. The sky is the limit for Sam, who is a bit of a late bloomer, and could really continue to progress on this steep incline, and turn into one of the best players to come out of this draft class.
